A 9-year-old Brooklyn boy has died after being pulled from a shallow pool at a Palisades community center.
Kaplen JCC on the Palisades confirmed that the boy, identified as Michael Placide by NJ.com, had died Sunday after being rescued from the water in cardiac arrest.
“With heavy hearts we share that the child who had an incident in our pool last Thursday has passed away. Our thoughts, prayers and strength go to the family at this difficult time. We as a community mourn this tragic loss,” the community center in Tenafly, N.J. posted.
A lifeguard administered CPR to the boy, who was in cardiac arrest. The child was then taken to a hospital in critical condition.
Kaplen JCC is a 185,000 square foot Jewish community center with both indoor and outdoor pools. It caters to both kids and adults
A call to the Tenafly Police Department was not immediately returned.
