Gov. Cuomo said the state will award five $40 million grants to airports to fund projects that enhance safety and other upgrades.
Gov. Cuomo is inviting 74 upstate airports to compete for a high-flying $200 million.
Cuomo said Saturday the state will award five $40 million grants to airports to fund projects that enhance safety, improve operations, reduce environmental impact and improve passenger service.
The competition was announced just before Cuomo helped kick off another renovation project with a bang.
The governor helped set off the implosion of a grandstand at the New York State Fairgrounds.
The grandstand was demolished as part of the state’s $50 million project at the fairgrounds in the Syracuse suburb of Geddes.
The governor has been traveling the state before his State of the State speech scheduled for Wednesday.
